CrabbyBottom Privacy Policy

Updated 2026-10-28

CrabbyBottom is a game by Daniel Pao for iPhone and Android. This policy explains what the game keeps, what its ads collect, and the choices you have.

What stays on your phone

Your best climbs, your daily bests, the shell you wear, your settings and how many runs you have played are saved only on your phone. There is no account, and we do not receive any of this.

Ads

The game is free and shows a full-screen ad after some longer climbs, never after a quick one. The ads come from Google AdMob. We ask Google for non-personalized ads only: they are not picked from a profile of you, and the app never asks your iPhone for permission to track you. To show ads, count them, stop fraud and fix problems, Google’s ad software on your phone collects some data, such as your IP address (which gives a rough location), device and app details, how you interact with ads, and crash and performance data. Google handles that data under its own policies: https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Europe and the UK

Every player is treated as under the age of consent, so in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland the game does not ask for advertising consent. Ads there are requested in Google’s mode for young users, without personalization. If Settings shows Privacy choices, you can review your choices there.

Leaderboards on iPhone

When you are signed in to Game Center, your scores go to Apple’s leaderboards, which Apple runs under its own policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Children

CrabbyBottom is a game for all ages, so we treat every player as a child. Every ad request tells Google to handle it as child-directed under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and as coming from someone under the age of consent. Google then shows only ads suitable for children, with no personalized ads, no remarketing and no third-party ad companies. Ads are also limited to content rated for general audiences. The game has no account, chat or sharing, and we do not collect personal information from anyone. Parents can write to us with any question at the address below.

Deleting your data

Deleting the game removes everything it saved on your phone.
